French officials have consented to begin stopping small boats in the English Channel, following an extended period of insistence from the UK.

This policy shift comes after the British leader sent a letter to the President urging him to back the initiative and stating there presently "have no effective deterrent" in the maritime passage.

French maritime police have been authorized to stop the migrant vessels at sea, but exclusively prior to they've collected their passengers, according to authoritative statements.

French authorities have rarely intervened to stop the heavily loaded boats departing from the coastline because it is considered excessively high a danger to both personnel and individuals.

"It is crucial that we implement these tactics this month... We have zero effective prevention in the Channel."

Currently, a French naval police representative says personnel will start intervening at sea, with the aim of safeguarding human life.

Significantly, the official ruled out the use of nets to stop boats, which had earlier been suggested as a potential method to snarl the propellers of the vessels.

The decision to intervene at all is a major advancement, coming after a short-lived shift towards a stricter strategy this summer, which ceased when the former government official departed from government.

That was highlighted in July, preceding a meeting between the UK leader and French president, when authorities were witnessed wading into the sea to damage the sides of a boat.

Now French authorities will again be allowed to stop boats prior to they collect migrant individuals from the beaches of northern France, however it's uncertain how the small boats will be stopped.

Powerful gusts are currently postponing the start of intervention operations and the human trafficking networks will be seeking ways to adapt to avoid interception, as they have done so often in the previous instances.

The Home Office and the Prime Minister's office have been contacted for response.
