Martínez Brace Ensures Inter on Tail of Frontrunners

Inter forward Lautaro Martínez netted a late brace to secure his side a 2-0 victory at Pisa, keeping the visitors firmly engaged in the Serie A championship battle despite a less than convincing performance.

League Table Overview

Led by manager Cristian Chivu, Inter currently are placed in third position in the standings with 27 points, tied with runner-up Roma and only one point behind table-toppers Milan. In contrast, Pisa occupy the third bottom position with 10 points.

Game Recap

Inter traveled in Tuscany looking to return to winning ways after enduring a loss to rivals by Milan recently, which was followed by a Champions League loss at Atlético Madrid. However, they were made to battle throughout by promoted Pisa. The hosts created plenty of opportunities, but a clinical Inter broke the deadlock in the 69th minute mark when Argentine Martínez drilled a first-time shot into the top of the net. The attacker then tapped in from close range with seven minutes remaining.

The team’s ability to convert even with difficult circumstances was decisive in securing three points.
