American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, after claiming a podium spot for the fourth time in five World Cup races. The 41-year-old, who achieved a milestone by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup podium finish. Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere Returning to the iconic venue for the first time in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place. "I didn't quite have enough direction on the first jump," the skier commented. "From that point on, I skied well. I'm satisfied with my skiing today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious." This result was her second podium at Val d'Isere during the event, having also taken third in the downhill race on Saturday. A Remarkable Comeback from Injury Vonn stepped away from competition in February 2019 because of ongoing knee problems. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 after a significant orthopedic procedure. With less than two months remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's performances are timely. She has an Olympic gold and two Olympic bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games. "When we get to Cortina, I will be in a good place," the athlete confirmed. Chasing More Titles Alongside her Games aspirations, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has won over a career spanning two decades. She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the summit of the overall downhill standings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table. This season's World Cup circuit features a nine more events taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
