The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership was established to develop a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," reads an announcement.

Launch products will include a beginner's box, essential manuals, a GM screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, sending the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and violent factions rise, transforming the city into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.

Development on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to reach a wider market, particularly in the United States. Production is slated to begin right after the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules confirms it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic approach. Players use abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles stress placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight have a direct impact success chances. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and smart positioning over simple statistics.

A Thematic Wound System

The way injuries is managed adds a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an agent collapses, but is not knocked out.
  2. They may still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must consult a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A free introductory rulebook will be released in the near future. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the full range of offerings will be detailed closer to the campaign launch.
