🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Cerebral Horror That Blends Silent Hill and Social Deduction Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled several intriguing future games, but one especially has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience seems to blend the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us. "It's a distinctive experience where a girl harboring several personalities within her needs to flee from a maze of the psyche," explains developer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Fractured Consciousness In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Inside her reside four separate personas, each with unique anxieties and motivations. These entities can seize control at will, unleashing their deep-seated phobias upon her without warning. Based on revealed footage, much of the action takes place within a creepy medical facility, while additional clips depict the main character navigating a desolate chapel. A World of Individual Horror "What are you afraid of? What makes you uncomfortable?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "High places. Small rooms. Authority figures. Things that appear minor to other people can trigger something primal inside us. This game explores that idea — fears that are unique to every individual." The central gameplay loop involves managing whichever soul emerges at any given moment. However, these identities will switch involuntarily as you play. While exploring, each soul's anxieties become amplified and attack the girl one after another. When the soul changes, so does the specific fear the player experiences. Unsettling Aesthetics and a Fatal Decision At first glance, UN:Me displays striking aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is populated by orderlies all sporting the same face, with unnervingly wide smiles. Patients in the lobby have enormous flowers where their necks are. Floral motifs are a recurring theme, contrasting organic elegance with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me presents a unique mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls inhabiting the heroine is the "real" one. "Each of the souls asserts that the physical form is rightfully them," explains a creator. "Throughout the game, you need to figure out who is real." After a player have deduced a persona is fake, they must eliminate it. However, since each soul can lie or hide the reality, it is very easy to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The last one standing could be a fraud. In any case, your decisions are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced release date, but it is available to wishlist on digital storefronts.
